UX

UX (User Experience) refers to the overall experience felt by a user when interacting with a digital product or service: its ease of use, logic, effectiveness, and the emotion it evokes.
UX design work involves understanding users' real needs - through interviews, tests and journeys - to design products that are useful, simple and pleasant to use.

UX in practice

Why invest in UX

  • The cost of a poor UX is high: user abandonment, overloaded customer support, poor reputation.
  • Good UX reduces churn and increases conversion in a measurable way.
  • Users constantly compare your interfaces to the standards they use daily (Apple, Notion, Stripe). The gap is felt immediately.

How UX is practically developed

  1. User research - interviews, field observations, competitor analysis.
  2. Personas and userflows - identify who uses it and for what purpose.
  3. Wireframes and prototypes - test the sequence of screens before writing a single line of code.
  4. User testing - confront design choices with reality, adjust.

Caveats

  • UX is not just the interface : it's end-to-end fluidity, including performance, onboarding, and support.
  • The executive's opinion doesn't replace the end user's opinion - these are rarely the same needs.
  • A "pretty" design isn't enough if it's unusable. Form and substance advance together.
