Migrating the reference software for temporary employment without service interruption

DirectSkills publishes the software used for invoicing, contracts, and timesheet entry in the temporary employment sector in France. Its historical application relied on ColdFusion, a technology no longer supported by the market in terms of skills. We have been conducting the migration since 2021: functions are switching over one by one to a modern base while the old version continues to serve users, with a team of seven developers supervised by our Tech Lead alongside the CTO.

The French Shooting Federation managed its competitions on business software that it could no longer evolve, even though its sporting rules, registrations, and invoicing depended on it. We conducted an in-depth design phase before writing a single line: every need of administrators, clubs, and shooters was mapped out, then translated into several hundred detailed mock-ups. The new software has been in service since 2024, including during the Paris Olympic Games.

No. Functions switch over in batches and the two versions co-exist for the duration of the transition. Each go-live is accompanied by a fallback plan.
No, that's the most common case. The audit reconstructs the actual operation from the code, data schema, and interviews with users, and the documentation produced remains with you.
We have taken over applications in ColdFusion, PHP, and custom-developed ERPs. The takeover involves understanding the existing behaviour, then progressively porting it, without imposing a target technology before the audit.
It is analysed in the same way as the code. A clean database is often preserved, even when the application using it is rebuilt, and data recovery is part of each batch.
Yes. The costing treats each scope separately, and several of our clients started with the most costly function to maintain before deciding on the next steps.
You choose. Our teams handle operations if you wish, and that's the most common case. Otherwise, the documentation, automated tests, and handover allow your teams or another provider to take over.
