Agile method

The Agile Method is an iterative and incremental project management approach that prioritises collaboration between the team and the client, flexibility in the face of change, and frequent delivery of functional product versions.
Rather than planning the entire project upfront, the team progresses through short cycles (called sprints), which allows for continuous adjustment of priorities and rapid integration of user feedback.

The Agile Method in Practice

Why Opt for an Agile Approach

  • Reduce Product Risk - we regularly confront the work with real users before having spent everything.
  • Accelerate Time-to-Market - a first usable version is delivered quickly, then enriched.
  • Adapt to Changes - priorities evolve, the market moves, the team adjusts.

How to Implement Agile Concretely

  • Short Sprints - typically 1 to 3 weeks, with a clear objective per sprint.
  • Prioritised Backlog maintained by a Product Owner who decides on business value.
  • Key Ceremonies - planning, short daily stand-up, review, retrospective.
  • Tools - Jira, Linear, Notion or GitHub Projects depending on the team's size and culture.

Caveats

  • Poorly applied agile boils down to "short meetings". The real value is iteration with the user.
  • Without a structuring roadmap, the team can lose strategic direction. Agile ≠ absence of a plan.
  • An agile team needs autonomy to decide quickly - decision-makers must be involved very early on.
