• Elasticity - capacity scales up and down on demand, without over-investing.
• Operational cost - no hardware investment, pay-as-you-go.
• Managed services - databases, AI, storage, CDN... managed by the provider, the team focuses on the business.
• Security - hyperscalers invest massively and achieve security levels difficult to replicate internally.

• AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure - the three global leaders, very rich ecosystems.
• OVHcloud, Scaleway - French alternatives for sovereignty and GDPR issues.
• Hybrid - combination of private and public cloud, common in mid-sized companies with a strong existing infrastructure.

Selection criteria: total cost, services offered, compliance (HDS, SecNumCloud), geographical proximity of datacentres, support quality.

• Vendor lock-in - an architecture too specific to the provider makes any migration costly. Prefer open standards (Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, S3-compatible).
• Hidden costs - egress (outbound transfer), snapshots, IOPS, API requests. Monitor from day one.
• Security by default often insufficient - a misconfigured S3 bucket remains one of the most frequent leaks.
