The need
- Vinci Construction must organise thousands of assignments for agents, construction machinery, and locomotives to ensure the continuity of railway operations across all its construction sites.
- The manual planning of these missions, subject to complex business constraints (rest times, machinery/employee compatibility, trip sequences), mobilised significant resources without guaranteeing optimal allocations.
Galadrim's solution
- Galadrim developed a bespoke planning engine based on advanced combinatorial optimisation methods, integrated into Vinci Construction's internal tool.
- This engine combines Constraint Programming (CP-SAT) and Branch & Price to manage the problem's complexity and scale, and automatically propose optimised schedules for all teams and resources.
