Université Paris Cité

Design and development of Darwin, a web application for allocating internships to medical students
1 500internships per year

The need

  • Each year, nearly 1,500 medical students from Université Paris Cité go on internships.
  • Students had to rank their preferences, and the school's teams were responsible for manually allocating each internship, which was extremely time-consuming.
  • The University was therefore looking to automate and optimise the allocation process via bespoke software.

Galadrim's solution

  • Galadrim therefore designed and developed software based on an allocation algorithm that takes into account students' choices, obligations to be fulfilled, and each student's internship history, via Excel import of the list of students, internship sites, and specialities.
  • Several levels of results analysis after allocation then allow administrators to manually adjust certain allocations.
